Review Submission
So here are my 4 parts, regarding the review of the pen. So I will do, design, then the heat after the vibration component, and finally my overall thoughts. So starting with overall design. It is extremely lightweight, portable, which I know was the goal. I'm sure you could fit it in most pockets, all bags.
The applicator is probably my favorite part of the design because it's, very smooth and big enough to cover surface of the small jaw muscles. Because they're obviously smaller than, let's say, like an arm or a leg muscle, but they're still easy to cover. It's not too small, but it's big enough if you have just like a trigger point you just wanna stay on. The only thing I would say for the design, I wish the heat and vibration buttons were actually higher up because as you place it, it would have been nice to adjust the heat easily as opposed to kind of taking it off, come back, etc. But overall, I would say design is great.
The heat component really surprised me. I love that it has four levels. One, I don't use frequently, but I find that if you have someone who's very sensitive, highly irritable, number 1 is probably more than enough because you don't want to give them too much heat. 2 and 3 is what I've kind of been sticking with for either myself or others. The only time I've used 4 is for someone who has really thick skin, low irritability. So for them, they were like, no. No. We can we can do the extra heat. But I'm very impressed with how much it heats up. That's a great feature.
The vibration component also has 4 levels and I find that as you go up, the sound and the vibration that you feel through your hand also goes up. And because the device is so close to your ear, if you have someone who's sensitive to sounds and they have pain and they're highly irritable, they might not tolerate more than one level of vibration, maybe 2. If you don't have someone with that problem and they're like, no, I like it. Go for it. And they're not even holding it, then they could probably tolerate those higher vibrations.
But if you're holding it yourself and you're highly irritable, I feel between the noise and the vibration going through your hand, that might not be so nice. But you also don't have to use it. You could just stick with heat. But like I said, one is definitely very tolerable. It's more a question of, you know, understanding what you're trying to help a person, with and making sure you don't irritate them.
So overall thoughts are great design, lightweight, portable, 4 distinct levels of vibration and heat, which gives a lot of versatility. A great tool, depending on the clinician, I myself find it more useful if I have patients who have jaw implants and who can't tolerate other modalities, but I see this more as a patient self management tool. So if you have tension, pain, and you're needing something to help you as you're having more long term solutions (because it's still just a tool, it's not gonna fix anything) but you still need that help when you either are in a flare up or all the long term solutions have not achieved their full results yet. This is really great. I think that if you can also use it on certain neck muscles too, So you have jaw muscles where you can use it, but there are some neck muscles at the back that insert near the skull where it's really applicable as well.
So overall, I really enjoy it.
This TMJ massage pen is amazing! I've been searching for a product like this for YEARS!
This is a fantastic tool. I am a dentist who help people with TMJ everyday. My patients are so happy about new device and looking forward to have one for individual use
I'm a singer and am ALWAYS away from home, so what I love about this most is that it's portable, and can travel all around the world with me.
Arrived quickly and is a fantastic little tool that gives off good heat and vibrations. Sadly, my TMJD issues are a little too advanced to have got much relief from it, but I could easily see it addressing those with minor to moderate pain and problems. However, I did not lose too much money trying it out, as the inventor made no issues or fuss out of me returning it within the refund window. He was very nice about it.
Once returned, this was promptly paid back. On that basis, it is easy to recommend trying it if you are on the fence. TMJ issues are horribly ignored by the medical profession really, so I am impressed with the inventors resolve to try and do something about it. Yes, this one was not quite for me, but I will be watching to see what he may develop in the future.
